John 7:37-52

On the last day of the feast, Jesus gives a Gospel invitation to the crowd. From this event, we learn some valuable insights about common reactions to Christ and our role as followers of Christ in sharing the joys of this Gospel message.

While teaching in the temple, Jesus issues a warning that implies a sense of urgency for both those present then and for us today.

John 7:10-24

Jesus’ critics try to discredit Him as a reliable teacher, and in His response Jesus gives us 5 reasons why we can/should accept His claims as true.

 

Jesus interacts with 3 different disciples on their conflicted priorities and in the mix we end up with a lesson on what our priorities should be in the circumstances where we face hard choices.

On the way to Jerusalem, as Jesus passes through a Samaritan village, His overzealous disciples provide us a good object lesson on ho we ought to view and treat unbelievers.

In Matthew 18, Jesus gives us three back to back lessons on how we are to deal with fellow believers who are struggling with or walking in sin.

As Jesus continues his lesson on humility prompted by the disciples’ argument over who was the greatest among them, we get a picture of just how extreme our devotion to Him should look in comparison to other things in our lives.

Jesus teaches His disciples about the death and resurrection to come, and then addresses their pride. Along the way we gain some valuable insights relevant to us today regarding our perceptions of the world and our own struggles with pride.

 

Following the Transfiguration, Jesus comes down the mountain only to encounter an unbelieving crowd and a man with a demon possessed son.
