Elected officials at any level are usually part of a political machine that has certain values and goals. Rather than talking about specific candidates and personalities, let’s take a look at the policies, values and goals that are being championed by each Party as stated in their Party Platforms as approved and published by their national conventions. Then, let’s see how those values and goals match up to what is taught in Scripture.
In this session we take a look at several major issues and how each party’s platform’s solution matches what Scripture has to say about it.
We have looked at the specifics of party platforms, but what about the character and behavior of the candidates and parties? People may look at the platforms and find themselves thinking of a specific event and asking, yeah, but what about…?” The fact is that many people are often motivated by headlines and statements and behaviors of candidates more than an analysis of policy prescriptions. So in addition to the Party Platforms, how should we consider the various events, behavior and statements made by the candidates and the parties while in power?
