As we continue looking at the story of Ruth, we see Naomi and Ruth return to Bethlehem at a time of celebration, but Naomi has determined to give in to her bitterness and abandon hope. Often we can be tempted to do the same thing. What causes us to turn from the goodness of God and give in to despair?
As we wrap up our look at hermeneutics (the art and science of interpreting Scripture), we examine the different types of literary genres contained in the Bible and how they are to be considered when interpreting a verse or passage.
A common and difficult challenge often given to Christians is that a loving God allows suffering. However, I think if we examine the ideas and assumptions behind this challenge, we will see that it is not rooted in a Biblical view of the world. In a sense it is trying to judge Christianity by a standard that does not apply.
The secular culture views suffering far different than it is addressed in the Bible. So then how should we think about suffering as followers of Christ?
Join us October 26th at 7:00pm for a time of question and answer. Pastor Marc will make himself available to address any question from the congregation on issues of religion, the Bible, or life in general, so come early and bring a friend.
