Christ is he Word of God and the Light of the World. As He shines into this fallen and broken world, He can illuminate our path so that we need not fumble about through the darkness.

Jesus is the Light of the World, and we celebrate His birth as that event where The Light stepped into, and overcame, the darkness in the world and in our hearts.
As Light of the World, Jesus illuminates the struggle we have against the Darkness and sin both in the world and in our own hearts, and He helps keep that darkness at bay so that we may more closely follow Him.
As we begin the Advent season, celebrating the birth of Christ, we take a look at the ways in which God shines light into the darkness of the world, and specifically how Christ brings that light to fallen mankind.
